The Spring Agenda
December 29, 2005 by IngaHey all,
I hope everyone is having a great holiday season, whether reveling in the
embraces of your long-missed family members, or carefully avoiding them
until they return your car keys and let you drive back to your “real
home”.
Now let me tell you, Free Culture @ NYU has not spent its winter break
sleeping in until 3pm, eating discounted christmas candy in bulk and
screening calls from its high school friends–no. FC@NYU has been working
hard to get primed and ready for Spring Semester. WE can all take a page
from its book.
Here’s what is on FC’s agenda so far:
1. We have a meeting scheduled for this week with an attorney who is going
to advise us on how to proceed with our film remix contest. After he tells
us what to do, all engines are go!
2. FC @ NYU is being featured in an upcoming issue of the Village Voice.
Look out for that issue; we’ll let you know when it hits the stands.
3. Don’t forget to register for the FC Regional Summit, happening the
13th-14th of January! It’s going to be a great networking, schmoozy
event, not to mention a bastion of productivity. Plus, CC is flying
people out to speak! To you!

4. FC@ NYU is officially proceeding with the CC Art Exhibition! The date
for the actual opening is set for March 1st, 2006, but we are looking for
all submissions to be in by Feb. 7th. We will notify all participating
artists whether their work will be used by the 14th. The only conditions
for participation are that the work must be displayable on a wall (no
video/sculpture) and that it must be licensed under Creative Commons.
If you are an artist/photographer or you have friends who are, and would
like to exhibit and sell your work at our Exhibition, send an email with
either a link to your work (if it is available online) or a couple of
lines about your piece and a way we could see it to
freecultureNYU !at! gmail.com.
This is going to be a great event, and we can’t wait to see some of the
amazing artwork you guys are out there making and CC-licensing!
That’s all for now, but you can see: FC@NYU has not been just lying on its
couch regaining a will to live for the past week. Its been out making
things happen!
We hope to hear from you all over break about the Art Show!
Have an Amazing New Year’s, and enjoy your families for the remainder of
break; they aren’t going to be making you cookies and asking if you always
slouched that way for too much longer. Appreciate it.
