CC Art Show and STEBA project

October 27, 2006 by Eli

So here’s what we’ve been working on so far, denizens of the Internet:

Guy had the idea of having a “let the next generation not be evil” project with the Stern-Tisch Entertainment Business Association @NYU. The goal is to educate these people now about copyright issues and Free Culture so they do NOT become the RIAA/MPAA of the next generation. We’re going to have a talk with a ppt presentation the week after Thanksgiving, exact date not pinned down yet, in Warren Weaver Hall.

This year’s CC Art Show is tentatively taking place on Thurs, Jan 18 on the 7th Floor of Kimmel; from 6 - 9PM. We’re trying to get the word out by flyer more than by word-of-mouth this year, to get a larger turnout. We’re considering making a YouTube video short of some kind, too; if you know talented ppl (TSOA or otherwise), let them know!
We may be soliciting remixes of last year’s works, but most probably we’re going to be looking for some more original stuff. We’re going be accepting the GFDL and FreeBSD art licenses as alternatives to the CC license, though we don’t really anticipate that to be a major issue.

cheers, and happy halloween!
